3 weeks old...

I cannot believe my sweet baby is already 3 weeks old! All of you mommas that have told me how fast time flies weren't kidding! I am enjoying staying home with Abby and feeding, changing, napping, and just staring at her all day!! Right now she is asleep in her crib - we are trying to get her to nap in there during the day, so our switch from the bassinet to the crib won't be so bad. I would gladly sleep in her crib - she has this pink Katie Little sheet that is like velvet soft and I would love one for my bed :-)

Anyways, Daddy & I are getting ready to go to his open house. Primary Eye Care just opened a new & beautiful office on Vaughn Road near Melrose. If you don't have an eye doctor, I recommend this practice, they are the best!! :-) http://www.drsjackson-harris.com

All for now! Tootles!!

Does this diaper make my butt look big?

So today, we had our LAST weight check until our 1 month appt. Abby gained 3 ounces since Monday!! GO GIRL! So we are back up to 6 pounds 13 ounces...almost the 6lbs 14ozs that we were when we left the hospital! I am so thankful that she is gaining weight and supplementing hasn't hurt my breastfeeding adventure. She is such a good girl when it comes to eating!! :-)

Also, we only woke up 2 times last night to feed. We fed at 10:30 & 12:55, and then woke up at 5am!! WHO NELLY, that is the longest amount of sleep I have had since she was born. So we both are much more happy campers today!

Tommorow, my little angel will be 3 weeks old and I cannot believe how fast time has flown by! She has blessed us so much in her short time here! I can only imagine the memories, lessons and love we will experience in the future!

Date Night with Daddy & Updates...

So on Saturday My mom & I took Abby on her first shopping trip! We hit Shoe Station, Old Navy and Costco. She did so good, and didn't make a peep!! Everett got out of the house too and played golf. On Saturday night, Mimi & Pop Pop (Ev's parents) came over and kept our little princess for about a hour so that Momma & Daddy could spend a little alone time.

We went to Miyako for sushi...Ev actually went my whole pregnancy without eating it...so we were soooooo ready to enjoy it! It was really nice and we actually attempted to make it "adult only" convo and try not to talk about Abby...but she came up of course. We also talked about our college days....it was a fun night! On Sunday, we all three watched the race at Talladega! Abby made me promise her she could go one day! haha!!

Today, we went to the doctors office and what a visit it was. We arrived and I went to get Abby out of the car and her a puke like sound...i thought she may have spit up, but nothing. So when i signed us in, I lifted her blanket...and whoa nelly...stinky, stinky, stinky. I then decided that she may need a diaper change, and lifted up the other side of the blanket, and WHOA NELLY FOR REAL...poopie was oozing out of our diaper into our new Kissy Kissy bubble outfit our Grandma had bought us on Sunday. So I went into the room to change her and let's just say...poopie everywwhere :-) And then they called me while I was changing her. So i had to wrangle my poopie girl so she wouldn't fall off the table and somehow kick open the door to tell someone that I was here just tending to my girl.

Anyways, we got weighed and gained another 2 OUNCES!! So we will go back Wednesday again, to make sure we are still progressing...we have gained 4 ounces since last Wednesday!!

Poke out that belly!!

2 things.... first Miss Abby gained 2 OUNCES!!! YAY!!! So we go back again Monday for another weight check, so hopefully she will keep progressing...she loves eating right now! Get's both boobies then a bottle of formula!! I am pumping too...to help get more stronger milk.

Second...my wonderful sister (in law) Kate is about 2 weeks away from having her first baby...my niece Addison!! We are so excited - Abby cannot wait to meet her cousin. Kate is progressing nicely and is already 1 1/2 cm dilated at 36 weeks. So we are hoping she progresses more....She will be here on May 11th if not before...i think she will be here before because these little girls have a mind of their own.

Please keep them in your prayers for a safe delivery and healthy momma & baby!!

2 weeks old...

Well I can't believe my little butter bean is already 2 weeks old....I am learning more everyday and loving every stinky diaper, punch to the chin, and pull of the hair :-) My little Abby can throw a right hook rather well when it is time to eat and mommy can't get the boobie out fast enough :-) She is such a moving baby...she stands up on you with her legs and gets those arms going crazy.

We got back to the doctor tommorow for the 4th time...Abby has lost about a pound since birth, and now we are breastfeeding and supplementing with formula to get her to pack on the pounds. Hopefully tommorow we will see about 1/2 and oz or oz in gain. She is a little one but a feisty little one.

I went on my first solo trip today without baby to Target to get some bottles and nipples. You should have seen Abby try to eat formula with a normal flow nipple...we were both covered in yummy smelling (not!!) brownish formula. So the new newborn slow flow nipples were are necessity.

Anyways, that is all for now. As for mommy goes...I am enjoying still eating tons of food!! it is hard to realize you need 2oo more calories than you did even preggo. But I am feeling good, and loving my body...flabby arms..flabby tummy :-) Still can't believe that this long little baby came outta me :-) 21 inches...no wonder my ribs hurt.

Tootles for now!! :-)

Updates...1 week old already!!

On Thursday we went for Miss Abby's first appointment. She is down a few ounces but we aren't too worried. We will go back for a weight check on Monday. She was quite the trooper when they pricked her heal to check her jaundice. Mommy got teary, but Abby did so good.

Also, my wonderful mother has been with us since we came home...and what a help she has been. Well today she left us to return home, I cried like she lived in another state or city. :-) Becoming a mommy has made me appreciate my wonderful husband, parents and family so much! Just feel full of so much love!!

Well baby is starting to stir, so tootles for now :-)

The Easter Bunny Came Early....

Our special delivery from the Easter Bunny!!
Abby & her daddy

Momma & her favorite girl

So here's the skinny on Abby's arrival...

On Wednesday night, I cooked one of our favorite casseroles, Hot Chicken. I took my nightly bath and we went to bed. I woke up several times that night with cramps, and just figured they would go away like they had before. I woke up about 1am and really was uncomfortable. So I started to question if I was in labor. Well I tried to time them...didn't work, and tried to go back to sleep. We then decided that I should call the doctor and see. So I ended up waking Dr. Lawhon up at 1:30. I told him what I was experiencing - back pain, cramping, etc... and he told us to head to Baptist East.

Side Note: for all of those who asked how my hair looks so good. Well, I did happen to shower and wash my hair before I called the doctor. There was no way I was gonna not have my hair clean when I would "maybe" meet my little girl :-)

So we arrived at Baptist East, and was admitted at 1:56am. They monitored my contractions for about an hour and a 1/2 and at 3:30, we were told we were staying and being induced. So, we called our parents and told them Abby would arrive that day. I got my IV, epidural, & pictocin around 5:30am, and our labor journey began. Since I was already dilated to 4cm we were thinking that Miss Abigail would be here sooner than later...but of course she made us wait. I progressed quickly to 5cm and that is were the fun began. My contractions were coming to fast...I was having them 1 minute apart with only 20 seconds rest for Abby. So they stopped my pictocin and let me have them on my own, and later restarted them and they took a better pace. As the clock slowly ticked by, I was moved to my left side because Abby wasn't handling my positioning well, and her heartrate was unstable. Once they moved me she was good :-)

As the feeling of being a "head on a stick" and not feeling a darn thing (and happy not to be), I started to have a strange pain on one side of my back. At this point I had progressed to about 7cm. I began to realize that my epidural had a hot spot and that I could feel pain on my left side of my back. Needless to say, the breathing I learned in childbirth classes were heaven sent. I really learned alot about myself in those painful moments of feeling every contraction (on that side) from that point on. Finally, I was about 9 1/2 cm. So my wonderful LDR nurse Lilli, Ev & I cleared out the room. And we started pushing to get Abby down further.

Any woman who has had a baby will tell you...your legs feel like they belong to a sumo wrestler. So we began to push, and then the doctor came in with 3 other nurses and we got ready for the delivery. First, they tried the vaccuum, and then we had to go with the forceps...which really made me nervous. I was a forcep baby and when I was born they thought I had a fractured my skull...this did cross my mind...but at the point I knew my doctor would do what was best for Abby. A little pushing later...with my eyes closed to do my best on the job at hand...heard Lilli say look Lauren...and there was my beautiful daughter in Dr. Lawhons hands.

At that point we learned why she has been a little distressed - she had the cord wrapped around her neck and was trying to bungee from it :-) The nurses took her and she let out that great cry and was all pretty and pink.

Anyways, to make a long story short, we feel so blessed to have a healthy beautiful baby girl! We are trying to get the hang of our late night feedings, and our crying sessions :-) I am in love all over...and over...and over!!

Tootles for now!

Waiting....

So today was my last dr. appointment...I am dilated 3 1/2 almost 4cm and will still be going in on Sunday night. I am going in around 9pm instead of 5. So Miss Abby will be here Monday. Dr. Lawhon also told me that he was suprised my water hadn't broken yet (this totally freaks me out) and that my bag of waters was really tight. So take with that what you may. So my "bedrest" will continue until this weekend...will keep you posted!! :-)

Wait, Rest & Ice Cream

So, I am on "bedrest" or what my at home doctor (Ev) calls bedrest. Lay down, chill out and drink water! HAHA!! Abby has been given the green light to arrive after next Friday...if she waits that long. So far I haven't had any contractions, but just getting more and more uncomfortable by each passing day. We shall see what happens on Tuesday afternoon when I go for my last Dr. Appt. As far as getting ready for the big day goes...Mommy and daddy have tried to spend some "quality" time together. Last night we met some friends at Wynlakes for dinner...Abby & I enjoyed a wonderful filet with creamed spinach! DIVINE!! This morning daddy made Abby & I pancakes, then we went to see the new main office of Primary Eye Care (dba the best optometry practice in Montgomery...need a doctor I know a good one :-)) then we grilled out hotdogs for lunch, then took a nap. This afternoon I finally got my ice cream fix - a waffle cone from Brusters with Turtle Cheesecake...YUMMIE!!

Now just waiting! We will be parents a week from Monday if not before and we couldn't be more happier and excited to meet our little Abby!!

Tootles!!
