So it's Thanksgiving...YAY TURKEY DAY!! And this year, probablly more than ever, I am aware of the many things I am thankful for. For starters, a wonderful husband, who puts up with his fair share of lauren-isms, and has been so sweet throughout my pregnancy. The mood swings, the hunger pans, the whining, the crying...everything.
My parents, Steb & Albert :-) (a few funny names they call each other) who have been my cheerleaders from day one. Their spoiled little girl who used to boss everyone around and tell them where to sit so that she could sing and dance and be the center of their world for a moment will have a little "superstar" of her own next year. They cannot wait to meet you Abby, and from the looks of it, you will be more spoiled than me. They are just great parents...I hope I'm half the parent they are.
Next, my mother & father in law (I really hate the in-law part) they are so much more. Joyce and William took us in when we were in the transition from Bham period and we couldn't have had a better time. They made us feel at home, and we truly did and still do. I can only wait for Abby to meet them, and experience the love of Mimi & Pop-Pop...I am sure she can't wait to go on a hayride.
My Grandmothers, they both taught me to be a lady and how to be respectful of everyone. I know the south is traditionally known for manners...well they are no exception. One of the most memorable things both my Grandma Diem & My Gran did for me was share music. It is, was, will always be a cornerstone of my life. Whether it was Grandma singing me "You are my sunshine" or Gran & I doing our rendetion of "Victory In Jesus" and me walking around with a bible and shaking everyone's hands..those memories are priceless and make me smile.
My Aunts, talk about making a girl feel special. Aunt Cindi would let me come over and we would wear slips and make cookies. Who else would let their 8 year old niece cover their face with colored eyeshadow then let them take pictures. Haha! Blackmail for later...haha! My Aunt Lois for showing me that I can be creative and helping me to have good taste...they laugh, but we do have very very similar tastes in fabrics, everything. Thank You! Aunt Marcie, thank you for putting up with me trying to cook "baby rachel". Long story short - when my cousin Emmy was born - I was sooo excited... well little 3-year-old Lauren doesn't realize she isn't 3 but a tiny baby..I hear that I was devastated she couldn't play so instead. I told everyone that we were cooking baby Rachel and asked everyone which piece they wanted. haha! I can only imagine the handful me, Em & Al were. Thank you for all your support while I was in AU. It made me felt safe that you were near.
My family, what a cooky bunch of folks. (I mean come on, where do you think I came from people :-)) I always felt so loved beyond compare and felt that nothing was out of reach. I believe I am a product of a wonderful set of families.
My friends, THANK YOU!! You made me come out of my shell (i bet some people wish you wouldn't have tried as hard!! :-)) I am so thankful that I have so many people to share this life with and that I can count on. Most of all thank you for letting me be....ME!! In the good and the bad.
This little girl growing in my tummy, thank you in advance for the things you will show me during our lives together. I can't imagine the impact you will have on me. I can't wait to meet you and see you and know you. I thank you in advance for putting up with your goofy mom & dad...we will all have our hands full.
Corny...yes, made me almost cry writing the last part...yes, forever thankful....YES!
