Brunch Shower...Baby Class...Birmingham

So this past Saturday was my last shower. It was at our cousin Laura Maxey's new house! They just moved in, in Feb. but of course looks so beautiful, it looks like she has been there for way longer. It was great to see everyone and we are really excited and thankful Abby will have family and friends that already care so much about her!! Aunt Laura made quiche....my fave and of course it was brunch so we had cheese grits, biscuits and muffins....PETITFORS of course! I think I could win an all you can eat petifor contest pretty easily :-) After the shower, i got to spend some time with 2 of my sorority sisters who came over to busy. Brooke and Emily came to visit and brought Abby gifts and also Em brought over one of Abby's BFF's Ally...who is a few months old. She was adorable and soooo very sweet! She even tested out Abby's changing table...and even christened it by spitting up a bit :-) It was cute and that is what babys do...I need all the pointers I can get - Thank you Miss Ally!

On Monday night, we had our 4th baby class. They told us about C-sections and what happens if you need one. I am still hoping we go the old fashioned way...but Ev was really excited that he would be the first one to hold Abby. Also, we had a person from the state come talk about car seat safety. You couldn't imagine some of the stories she told us about dad's trying to put the bases into cars...everything from bungee cords, duct tape, bolting it down :-) When we put ours in I will let you know if Ev gets out his tackle box and roll of fishing line :-)

I am also in the process of packing for the hospital, which it looked like might be in the near near future on Monday.

So all day monday, i thought i was leaking amniotic fluid. So when i left work I called the other Dr. Marshall (Hollis - my sisinlaw - on her 3rd...very experienced mommy) and she told me to take it easy and see what Dr. Lawhon said this morning at my appt. She also called during our child birthing class and left me a message telling me that it was a full moon....and you know what that means! Suprisingly, this all got me very excited! So to the doctor my mom & I went this morning. Dr. Lawhon was sick so I saw Dr. Logan who was sooo nice!! I asked her about this ...and drumroll....I've been peeing my pants :-) haha!! Abby is so low on the poor bladder that it just can't take it all the time! So thankfully Abby will get to cook for another 5 weeks or so!

After the doctor we headed to Bham to shop at Target...needless to say Abby got spoiled by her Gramma and I! We then headed to the Summitt and found some cute things for other babys at Swoozies! Then it was on to lunch at my old fave Brio in Brookwood Mall. Leah met us for lunch and it was as good as I remembered...the wait staff, a little stranger than I remember though :-) We then went to Babies R Us...where i was thrilled...a little bit too much...to park in the expectant mother's parking spot! I did feel special...bout time...get it together Montgomery!!
Anyways, our last stop of the day was Edgar's Bakery in Patton Creek, where Mom, Leah, Abby & I enjoyed a strawberry cupcake! Abby really liked it and said she wants more really soon :-)

That is all for now! I got back to see Dr. Lawhon in 2 weeks...then we start weekly visits! Abby will be here before we know it, and we cannot wait to meet our little girl

A small side note to this extremely long post : I googled the meaning of Abigail the other day, and was very excited to find its meaning - "Her father's joy" pretty fitting I do believe!

Tootles!!

Snow...a Shower & the Sitz Bath

So as you know ...it snowed this weekend! I was awoken at 6:11am on Sunday morning by Ev telling me that it had snowed. He ran to Hardee's and I had a very yummy Bacon & Egg biscuit with grape jelly...it was supposed to have cheese on it...but they left it off both of ours. I sat and enjoyed watching the snow, then went back to bed. By the time we woke back up at 9:30 the snow had melted from the ground. It sure was pretty while it lasted.
As the snow still continued to fall, I headed to my parents house to pick up my momma. On the way to the shower we stopped by and saw Kate's nursery for Addison. It looks amazing!! Then it was off to the shower for Abby. Some of my bestus girlfriends gave Abby the shower. Everything looked amazing..the food was great and so were the petifors (our favorite) My Grandma Diem, got Abby a hot pink rocking horse that wags her tail. I can't wait to see Abby ride it. We really appreciate everyone who came out on a very cold, wet and nasty Sunday afternoon.

On to Monday night...I was really tired from Sunday so I wasn't to thrilled. Our teacher told us about the delivery and showed us the cool panties I will have to wear and the huge pad for afterwards. She then showed us about the sitz bath, and how the bed breaks down in the LDR rooms. Then I got a little sad...but only because she told us the momma's can't take a bath for 6-8 weeks....showers only! I am a water baby...Everett thought this was funny. But I am sure I won't have much time to worry about not soaking in the tub everynight as I do now. At the end of class, we learned some fast paced breathing...kinda like the hee hee hoo lamaze from movies...but not near as dramatic...thankfully. We got to tour the LDR at Baptist East at the end of class too. I hadn't been there since my last niece was born, and was happy to see all of the renovations. It was really cool to think that I would be delivering our baby next month! I will be A MOMMY NEXT MONTH!! OMG!!!! We did see some cuties in the nursery. One little girl was very ticked off...she was screaming the whole time the nurse gave her a bath. It makes me feel better about not thinking I will break Abby everytime I touch her...they handle the babies like a sack o' taters :-)

Anyways, that is all for now! I got back for our 34 week appointment next week. I really think Miss Abigail has grown alot in the past week...so we shall see! Tootles!!

Week 32 Updates....

So first off...I would like to congratulate Rob & Nikki , the new Mr & Mrs. Preston on their wedding this past weekend! We had a great time at the rehearsal dinner & at the wedding. It is so great to see two people in love and have them share it with everyone! I am super jealous right now because they are one their honeymoon. I told Rob not to be mad at me if I randomly showed up...I am sure they are going to have a great time this week and the rest of their lives! Everett & I Before the wedding...31 weeks preggo!

Second, we had our 2nd childbirthing class last night...we had to bring 2 pillows so we knew there would be a kindergarten mat and breathing involved. But first we watched videos on labor and other fun things. The one that made me squeamish was watching an epidural...gheez whiz that needle is huge! But I am sure when it is go time...I won't mind at all. At the end of class, all of the preggo's and their "coaches" (husbandos) came and sat/laid on the kindergarten mats. And listened to a relaxing tape and learned slow breathing. Also, we were given a massage by our partners...Ev thought it was funny because he knows I always beg for a back massage. Needless to say when we got home we both were relaxed and ready for bed! Next week we learn fast breathing for bad contractions & are going to tour the hospital.

Thirdly (if that is a word), I had my 32 week appointment with Dr. Lawhon this morning. I had gained a pound in 2 weeks, so immediately after i treated myself to a cookie and a diet coke :-) My blood pressure is great, and Abby is growing very well. I am measuring to date :-) I also got to feel where her head is, which is head down and engaged. She has moved some since last time. Her hiney is now on my left side, so her legs and hands will occasionally potrude out of my right side. And she is still going out everynight to tha CLub, and boom booming it for a little while. I really enjoy it, so I don't mind. We go back in 2 weeks and then I think I will start my weekly visits...8 weeks to go!!

Lastly, Gary(the most awesome furniture man) brought the last 2 pieces for the nursery yesterday. They look great and I cannot believe how everything has come together!

Another CONGRATS is in order to my old roomie Alicia...she will be getting married this fall & I can hardly wait!! This dresser belonged to my momma & daddy circa 1977ish....looks great!! It was dark
wood, but now a beautiful Easter Lily white to match Abby's crib!
Here is my "chest of drawers" or chester drawers :-) whichever one you say...haha!!! This piece matches the dresser above. It turned out great!! Momma & I picked up the mirror on sale at Target and the piggy bank was a gift from my Aunt Georgie...the most fabulous gal in Michigan...she even filled it with money!

Childbirthing Class #1

So, Monday night we started our childbirthing classes at Baptist East. There are 7 other couples in the class - 6 of them are due in April and the 7th is having twins and due in May, but our teacher says April for them too. All of us are firsttimers...so it will be very fun for all.

I have to admit I didn't realize how big 10cm dilated really is :-) It is huge! We also watched "Debra's Story" and anyone who has taken classes is familiar with Deb and her natural birth. I am very proud of the women who have given birth without the heavenly epidural, but I won't be one of em. I kept thinking to myself...just get that baby out!!AHHHH!!! Overall, it was very cool to watch. I can't wait for us to experience the wonders of the human body and our great God.

We got back to the doctor next week for our 32 week appointment. It is baffling to me that I will be starting my 8th month in a few days. We will get to meet our daughter in 2 months, and cannot wait.

I may have my furniture by this weekend, if not hopefully next week...and that means we will be done with the nursery. So needless to say I have been washing, onesies, sheets, blankets, burp cloths, etc...and I still have quite a few loads to do. But I am loving every minute...Tootles for now!!

Updates...30 weeks!!

So, we officially have 10 WEEKS UNTIL PRINCESS ABIGAIL ARRIVES!!! AHHHHHH!!!
I had my first shower this weekend. My mother has such good friends, many who I have know since I was little, and they are super excited about meeting Abby. They made the shower such a fun experience...I have to admit, I was quite a tired girl after the whole day. I also got to see family that I don't see that often. Abby got alot of beautiful outfits and much needed necessities, like her bath tub, stroller, bouncy seat, swing and pack and play.

On Sunday, I went an picked up Abby's pink chair from her Great Grandma Diem. I have been waiting to finally get it. All we need now is the furniture and then the baby. So, I am hoping to have the furniture first...obiviously :-)

Today, was my 30 week appointment. We are both growing nicely and Abby is head down. So hopefully she will make delivery easy for her momma & dadda! We go back in another 2 weeks. Next week, Everett & I start our childbirthing classes at Baptist East. We are super excited, and I am sure we will have some fun stories to tell.

That is all for now!

Abigail's 4D Ultrasound

Well, as you can see Miss Abby cooperated for her mom & pop today! She was a little sleepy to begin with, but soon got the hang of it! We ended up with 6 printed color pictures, about 20 black & white prints, 56 digital photos and the dvd of the whole ultrasound. It was very cool! She looks like her daddy and I could not be happier. They both melt my heart...and I cannot wait to have this little girl in my arms!! I hope you enjoy Abby's first (of many) "Glamour Shots" :-)
